Melchionne recently spoke to a class of Freshmen and Sophomores at
Quinnipiac University about credit scores, credit reporting, credit
card abuses and the dangers of collection agencies. Using excepts
from the movie, Maxed
Out,
he explained that pizza, sneakers and iPods bought on credit can
lead to financial problems in the future. Hearing about responsible
spending, the students learned about credit scoring, collections,
lawsuits and judgement resulting in the garnishment of income or
foreclosure of homes. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of
Connecticut sponsors the C.A.R.E. Program teaching
high school and college students about the dangers of uncontrolled
spending and credit cards. C.A.R.E. stands for
Credit Abuse Resistance Education.
