The
U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut sponsors
the C.A.R.E. Program teaching
high school and college students about the dangers of uncontrolled
spending and credit cards. C.A.R.E. stands for
Credit Abuse Resistance Education. Most
recently, Attorney Melchionne participated in the program by
teaching a class of Freshmen and Sophomores at Quinnipiac
University about credit scores, credit reporting, credit card
abuses and the dangers of collection agencies. Explaining that
pizza, sneakers and iPods bought on credit can lead to budgetary
problems in the future and garnishment of income or inability to
pay student loans, the students learned about responsible
spending.
